Supplies

  • #2 sport weight cotton yarn in red and white
  • 3.5 mm hook
  • scissors
  • tapestry needle

PATTERN


WITH RED YARN
Create a magic ring

Round 1: In the mr place 1 dc, (change to white) 1 dc, *(change to red) 1 dc, (change to white) 1 dc; repeat from * 4 times. Sl st in first dc with red. (6 white dc, 6 red dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, (change to white) inc, *(change to red) inc, (change to white) inc; repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 3 with red. (12 white dc, 12 red dc)

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (change to white) dc, inc, *(change to red) dc, inc, (change to white) dc, inc; repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 3 with red. (36 white dc, 36 red dc)

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, inc, (change to white) 2 dc, inc, *(change to red) 2 dc, inc, (change to white) 2 dc, inc; repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 3 with red. (48 white dc, 48 red dc)

Round 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, inc, (change to white) 3 dc, inc, *(change to red) 3 dc, inc, (change to white) 3 dc, inc; repeat from * around. Sl st in ch 3 with red. Fasten off white yarn. (60 white dc, 60 red dc)

WITH RED ONLY
Round 6: [Ch 3, sk 1, sl st] around. End with a sl st in the last sl st from the previous round. Fasten off and weave in ends. (30 ch 3s, 30 sl st(s))
