Easy Crochet Soap Bag



Skill level: confident beginner

Supplies

  • #4 worsted weight cotton yarn. I'm using Crafter's Secret Cotton in the color Ivory.
  • 4.5 mm hook
  • scissors
  • tapestry needle

  • final bag measures approx. 3.25 inches x 5.5 inches

Pattern

Ch 15 (or any multiple of 3)

Rnd 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook, 12 sc, 3 sc in next ch, (working into bottom side of chain) 12 sc, 1 sc in same chain as the first two sc, sl st in beginning sc. (30 sc)

*Note: number of increases remain the same regardless of starting chain amount. Only stitch count will change. 

Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as a dc + ch 1), dc in same st, sk 2, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, sk 2; repeat from * around, sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (10 Vs)

Rnd 3: Sl st in ch 1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp; repeat from * around, sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (10 Vs) 

Rnd 4-10: repeat rnd 3. (10 Vs)

*Note: you can repeat more or less times for a more customized size.

Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each dc and ch 1 sp around, sl st in beginning sc. (30 sc)

Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in same st, 5 sc, ch 3, sk 3, 14 sc, ch 20, sc in same st as last sc, 7 sc, sl st in beginning sc. Fasten off and weave in ends. (28 sc, 1 ch 3 sp, 1 chain of 20)
